Hello, World!
Save it or stash it...
I don't know about you, but one of my favorite new years rituals is to go though my closet and purge! That's right, out with the old and in with the new!
Are you still sucking into some of those pieces from high school? You know, the shirt you wore on your first date or those jeans with the torn pocket that might still fit if you lose that 5lbs? Lets finally toss it out and we can do it together.
It's time to elevate my closet and turning 25 seems like the perfect milestone to do so. It's time to store those sorority tees ( sorry ladies! ) and weave out that Forever 21 crap we keep buying. We're leaving those fast fashion trends in the past and saying "Hello Gorgeous" to classics. We're growing up everyone, and it's kinda freaky! Below is a piece I picked up in Vegas for my 21st birthday. Collecting dust by now but it is one of those pieces I simply can not part with just quite yet. It;s fisty and makes a statement without a second look.
The newest obsession of mine I just had to have is this dress from Aratta. Feast your eves on this one! My attention was caught on the loud print that from a distance may remind you of your grandmothers couch, yet my heart was stolen by the fit. Any maxi for a girl of below average height can vouch for the aganizing pain we must endour when shopping for such pieces that were designed for any girl over 5'9". The hem line reaches mid calf leaving viewing room for an ultra cool booty that would accompany the vibes of the dress. Worn closed for a feminine style with an edge one minute and a jacket the next with a pair of relaxed fit jeans. I can't wait to take advantage of its versatility.
Unlike the typical new years resolutions of losing weight, hitting the gym and reading more often, i've decided I want my year to have fashion resolutions.
Resolution #1 - Accessorize More
The quickest way to make your look that much better and I have been seriously slacking. A little sparkle never hurt anyone! A statement pair of earrings, a cocktail ring, a few cuffs and you're out the door.
Resolution #2 - Get out of your comfort zone
Jeans and a tee girl? Throw on a dress. It's about taking chances, taking a fashion risk every once in a while, stepping outside your comfort zone and having fun with it and being confident in your choices because you can always change them back. I want to start mixing my hard leathers with floor-grazing skirts for an effect thats inherently cool with a lick of edge.
Resolution #3 - Stop saving clothes for special occasions
Whether it may be changing up the shoes, jewelry as well as hair and makeup, this one is about wearing your favorite pieces as many ways as possible. My staple lace blouse incorporates a victorian vibe. The high scoop neckline and over-all lace, it's a lovely pick to wear from coffee to cocktails. Taking some risks, Im pairing it with a satin crop pant for maxed out detail for turning heads.
